Is it possible to travel to South America and not once go dancing like and with the locals?
For me of course not! 😀
And it was an incredible experience. The club was a disco called Lira, without a sign outside and in a completely anonymous building. At the entrance of the guards to control access as if it were a bank, the doors huge and heavy.
The entrance is the equivalent of 15 €, but all spendable in cocktails!
To enter the ballroom there are two other huge doors, as if it were a vault. On the right is the bar counter, very modern, with illuminated signs and light effects through plexiglass. On the left a couple of tables and in the middle two tables that extend towards the real dance floor. Beyond it is the DJ’s stage. Going up the staircase in front of the entrance you get to the bar on the top floor, with an open roof, where you can smoke and have a conversation. So far it looks like a normal disco of those that can be found anywhere (apart from the doors… those were huge!).
The difference though is in the people!
It is clear that they have a natural predisposition to dance, they feel the rhythm and soon the disco turns into a jungle of bodies in motion. I certainly couldn’t stay on the sidelines! 😀
The evening is fantastic, with exotic cocktails, salsa, Latin American, reggaeton (yes, you read that right, I danced reggaeton! :D) and “black music” (that’s what it’s called).
The people in the discos are almost all local, of foreigners we will be 2 or 3. The disco employees are interested, they don’t miss the opportunity to chat.
The environment is great, I feel at ease, who knows if I can manage not to look out of place (at least a little).
One more dance, one more, I don’t want to stop, but the sleep is getting to me. I take an uber back to my accommodation, it’s late. The cab driver wants to talk, he too asks me for the umpteenth time what I think about Peruvian food. I fall asleep in the back seat (probably with my mouth open :D)….ho too sleepy.
P.S. I thank the person who made the night just perfect…you know I’m talking about you! 😀
