After a night spent dozing on the bus, at around 7:30 a.m. I arrive in Trujillo, a coastal town in northern Peru.
As soon as I arrive, the weather is not the best, so I grab my luggage and head for the hostel.
It is not very far from the bus station, so I decide to walk. Incredibly, however, I struggle wildly, it seems that my backpack is full of stones!
The buildings in this city are mostly low, not very modern and mostly unkempt.
The hostel on the other hand is nice, as always overrun with Germans, with a nice terrace on the top floor to relax on.
I go out for a walk, since I still can’t go to my room, and I soon realize how different things are. People are not very used to seeing tourists, as I walk they look at me with curiosity mixed with suspicion… for the first time I feel slightly uncomfortable… a feeling that will pass very quickly, replaced by boredom 😀
After a walk through the streets of the city, I realize that it doesn’t have much to offer…other than the plaza de armas there is nothing to do.
I then return to the hostel and finally get to take a shower. As soon as I get back to the room I meet one of my roommates and horror! On the bed with stockings. Black. White socks but turned black from dirt!!!
And it won’t be the only time she will make my hair stand up in disgust!!!
The afternoon passes quiet and boring, so boring that I decide to visit a botanical garden (little stuff really)… enough, I’ve decided! Tomorrow I’ll do something fun!
