What do you do with super-modified dune buggies, open exhausts and snowboards in the desert? Obviously figures of sh*t….. 🤣
Departure at 4:30 p.m., general casino as usual to group people together and to divide into groups. The usual character that can never be found! Short walk to the exit from the oasis, woman asking for tickets to enter the desert which of course no one has. And here side by side the buggys, colorful and noisy, it seems to me even Euro 8 😀
Just enough time to sit down and buckle up that the buggy has already rear-ended the one in front!
We set off at full speed up and down the dunes, an adrenaline rush of jumps, bordering on tipping turns and sand that gets in your eyes ( I still didn’t know what was in store for me).
We stop on one of the highest dunes for the ritual photos and off we go again, the driver does not spare himself. Arriving on a dune with a knife-sharp ridge, the pilot introduces us to the snowboards. It’s time to slide down the dunes.
Being particularly gifted at snowboarding 😀 I better go down lying on the board. The dune is very high, the descent fast and fun and my shoes, face and clothes full of sand! There are a couple of people descending on their feet and one person with skis! We set off again for more of his descents, some people tip over, some people lose their hats, some people scream like crazy, in short a súper fun experience. We get back on the buggy and off we go, to one of the highest dunes to watch the sunset in the desert. The sun is red and low on the horizon, no one talks anymore, the landscape is incredible, a mystical experience. We return to the oasis and as soon as I get off the buggy I hear a voice shouting “Italian!” An Austrian girl I met in the hostel two days before–she wants to go for a drink together–I just want to get the sand out of my ears. Fortunately for her transportation problems I can finally take a shower and fill the room with sand…the cleaning lady will be happy 😀
