Last day in Santa Marta. And last day of travelling with Luis. In the morning we decide to explore the village more on foot. Not after stocking up on medicine, the air conditioning killed me 😅
Usual walk along the beach to get to the centre, among street vendors whose phrase is always the same: “Agua, cerveza fria, coca y weed” 🤣.
There is a bit of sadness in the air, after two weeks of travelling in which we have shared all kinds of adventures, the last day has come, but we decide to enjoy it to the full.
We reach the centre, a street with nightclubs and restaurants, surrounded by other small streets where there are all kinds of shops. The sun is strong, by now my neck is completely black and my T-shirt wet 😅.
Between shops, electronic shops selling motorbikes, hawkers selling handicrafts, miraculous roots, watch shops (it seems that Colombians particularly love watches) and hawkers selling eyeglasses (??????) we walk all morning getting lost in the narrow streets of the centre. Until we arrive in an area that is not exactly safe. We then decide to return to the seafront and have lunch. A menu del dia of shrimp ceviche (very good) and we return to the hostel. On the top floor, on the roof of the building, there is a bar and a swimming pool with a view of the city. We decide to relax a little by the pool (relax….). After two hours we already know all the guys in the pool, Colombians, Belgians, Israelis, Venezuelans… After another two hours they are all drunk, dancing in the pool with music on full blast (I couldn’t drink much…damn medicine 🥲).
We are invited by some Colombian girls to a birthday party so we go out for dinner with them and then dancing, finally, I have to perfect my salsa, merengue and raggeaton 🤣
A club on the first floor, very hot, with fans aimed at you that kill you just looking at them, but the music is not bad. A Colombian guy looking for trouble approaches, but we just want to have a good time so we blithely ignore him. Last night with Luis and it will be another night to remember!
