Here I am in Mancora, the city everyone talks about for the sea and the fun, located in the north of Peru
But I’m not having fun, on the contrary… a deadly bore! 😕
The hostel is beautiful, made of little houses with thatched roofs, sand everywhere and a swimming pool… the only flaw is the cleanliness! The bathrooms are always dirty, there is almost always no toilet paper and in the shower lives a colony of thousands of mosquitoes.
The guys who volunteer stay all day talking or lying around the pool and the guests spend all day sleeping.
In my room there is a Colombian boy who smokes and sleeps all the time and a Peruvian girl who also spends the day sleeping. A very different reality from the Mancora all parties and fun I had been told about! And I booked a week here!!!!
I decide to go to the village, to inquire about the next bus to take (yes, I can’t wait to leave).
The town is overrun with tuktuks, trucks and taxis, all trying to sell you drugs at every turn.
The main street is lined with tourist restaurants, but there are not many people… I return to the hostel and realise that the other guests are exactly where I left them… I go to the beach, even though it is cloudy.
At least this night I meet up with someone I met in Cusco, a bit of company can only do me good in this city which for now seems so depressing… I want to escape! 😱
