No, Malecon is not a dirty word in some Spanish dialect :D, but the cliff walk, if you can call it that. And it is one of the most spectacular things in the city of Lima. Starting from the outskirts and going towards the center you cross various neighborhoods of the city, which as you approach the Miraflores neighborhood become more and more western. The buildings are transformed from old shabby houses to modern glass palaces with swimming pools and tennis courts. The vehicles change as well, going from old Japanese and American cars to modern SUVs and European sports cars (not the tuk-tuks, those are everywhere!) Tourists are mostly in the Miraflores district, it is very difficult to meet faces with European features in the more peripheral neighborhoods, which is why during my walks I am often stopped by locals for a chat, even if they all seem quite surprised that I answer in Spanish ( although it is painful :D)

The constant, however, are the parks, along the entire promenade of the Malecon you can find many, each with a different theme, the park of love, the park Chino, all well cared for and very clean, with an incredible view of the ocean (which in truth is not very clean and even less so the beach is), from which to watch the sunset, which almost always results in a really scenic burning sky. In short, it is clear that often I find myself on this walk without even noticing, attracted by the background music emanating from the small speakers arranged along the parks….
