After spending a Saturday grazing in a neighbourhood of Bogotá, very nice to tell the truth, and taking the opportunity to get a haircut (the hairdresser had no idea how to do it and asked me 😆), on Sunday I take a trip to a quaint little village about 3 hours from the city.
The day starts immediately with a “nice” rain, not heavy but persistent (strange, it never rains in Bogotá 🤣). My guides are two local girls, very kind to guide me on this latest adventure. After about an hour and a half of green hills, small villages surrounded by nature and repeated downpours, we stop to visit a monument commemorating an ancient battle. After about three hours, it is time to visit a small village where every handicraft possible and imaginable is sold. In the central square, a band plays traditional Colombian music, under a rainstorm that gradually becomes more insistent. There is now a veil of sadness, these are the last hours of an extraordinary journey and the weather certainly doesn’t help 😕.
The village is really beautiful, all in the colonial style, with little white houses, a central square with the characteristic structure of the ‘plaza de armas’ and cobbled streets. In the meantime I get a very strong headache and get very nervous. I blame the air-conditioning, although secretly I know very well that it is the tension and nervousness of returning. I don’t want to come back!!!! 🥲
I spend the return journey half in a coma vegetating in the back seat of the car….
As soon as I get back to my accommodation I feel a strong feeling of nausea, I get into bed and in a flash I fall asleep.
I wake up at 2am with my jaw aching from the accumulated tension and within minutes I find myself with my head in the toilet reviewing everything I ate during the day 😵
