Medellin, this is the destination that awaits us. We don’t exactly know what to think, it seems that everyone has been enchanted by this city.
We arrive at our hostel just after midday, following a quick flight (yes, flights in Colombia are super cheap) and immediately realise how full of plants, shrubs and vegetation this city is. On every corner, beside every street, in every flowerbed, there is a plant. Soon we also understand why there is so much vegetation (the rain punctually arrives every single day, perhaps that is why it is called the city of eternal spring 😅).
It is probably because of this thick vegetation and the symmetrical structure of the neighbourhood where we are that it is very difficult to find our way around.
We spend the afternoon in a museum, housed in a castle, owned by a wealthy family from the beginning of the last century. A pleasant visit to a building with architecture inspired by French castles.
At night it is finally time to take advantage of the city’s renowned parties, where many reggaeton celebrities come from.
After a dinner in one of the many fusion restaurants (yes, you can never tell, they are all fusion restaurants in medellin 😵‍💫), we explore the neighbourhood where the nightclubs are. We end up in a street where there are a lot of bars and discos, but just as many prostitutes, some of whom are certainly underage and all of whom are employees of the various clubs.
We therefore decide to move to a street further north and here we find a promising disco. We are sadly turned away by the bouncer because there were no more places available. We then divert to another disco but receive the same treatment. Eventually we find a third, but it is completely empty. We leave with our tails between our legs to sleep, not before suffering an attempted robbery (only attempted!). First disappointment of Medellin.
