The city is divided into two parts, the outer part, composed of dilapidated and unkempt buildings where it feels like walking through a war zone, and the centric part. The latter is marvelous, with its white buildings, the Plaza de armament, the convent and in the background a volcano with its snow-capped tip.
The day passes between visits to the city’s points of interest, walks in the suburbs among stray dogs that follow me around in curiosity, lunch at the menu del dia, relaxing in the park and chatting with the locals. Tiredness begins to set in. I make my way to the hostel, who knows who my roommate will be (small spoiler: no one will ever arrive, although the owners keep telling me that one person should arrive). I get into bed, it’s early, but tomorrow the alarm will go off at 3 a.m. I still haven’t seen anyone else in the hostel, I begin to suspect that I am the only guest (I also understand why :D).
