The day of departure is always the most thrilling, a mix of excitement, fear, desire for adventure and discovering new things, places and people. But it is even more so if you are leaving alone and it is the first time!

This time it’s a one-way flight to Peru, departing from Barcelona, with a stopover in Madrid. The luggage is a large backpack and a smaller one, just the essentials, a few shirts, two pairs of long pants, two pairs of short pants, a sweatshirt, underwear…. and yet the backpack seems to explode! I think I miscalculated the spaces, but it’s too late, it’s time to leave.

Once at the airport it is already clear that the flight takes you to the other side of the world, the faces and the clothing are less and less European… Except for the Italian national shooting team… Who knows why I always end up flying with some Italian sports team :))

After an endless check-in and a short wait at the gate I find myself sitting on an Airbus, on my right two young women, probably mother and daughter, on my left a group of tourists in their sixties. The fasten seatbelt sign lights up and we are off to Madrid! And I, as always on planes, am already sleepy :DD
