Morning a little cloudy (like every morning after all 😑) in Quito. As the city is surrounded by mountains and volcanoes there are many hikes we can do. We therefore decide to do one of them. We take the funicular to climb to the top of the mountain. The ride takes about 30 minutes and the view is very interesting. Mountain vegetation mixes with tropical vegetation. All in an extremely humid environment. Once at the top, several paths present themselves before us. We take the Lama path. In the meantime, the clouds become lower and lower, until they completely surround us. It also begins to drizzle, perfect weather for a mountain walk!
The altitude this time also makes itself felt for me… in a very special way 😅
While it cuts off everyone else’s breath and gives them a constant sense of tiredness, it makes me hallucinatingly hungry.
So much so that halfway through the 3-hour walk I can no longer continue, I need to eat something.
Of course I don’t have anything with me, even though signs all along the trail warned to bring food. (I obviously didn’t even read them)!
Fortunately we decide to return, after a few minutes it starts to rain more persistently.
Lunch, shower and then rest for the rest of the day. What an old man!
