One realises immediately that one has arrived in Qatar. As soon as you step off the plane you are plunged into a world of luxury and opulence. Marble, soft lighting, huge spaces, ornate glass. One feels tiny in front of the unbridled wealth they can flaunt.
Document control is quick, after all, it is 2 a.m., there are few people. The number of armed soldiers is impressive, one immediately gets an idea of how controlled and secure the country is.
I come out of the arrivals and there is the person who had been waiting for me, for a long, long time. A rather formal greeting, the country is quite famous for restrictions… you never know 😅
Once out of the airport doors we are hit by the hot desert wind, which combined with the humidity and high temperature turns us into a fountain of sweat 🤣.
Trying not to melt, we get into an Uber, which is air-conditioned to the max, from oven to freezer in one step 😬.
The hotel is about 15km from the centre, after all it was one of the cheapest. I lay down on the bed at about 3am… it’s time to sleep, although the tension of the previous hours doesn’t help… good night, this night from the Middle East!
