I wake up at 3am, damn jet lag! Traffic can be heard loud and clear, despite the window being closed (actually the noise with the window open or closed doesn’t change much). The horns honk incessantly, you can hear the sounds of smarmy vehicles that fast & furious made aside :DD
I try to sleep a little more, but it seems impossible. At about 7 o’clock I start to hear stadium choirs, I can’t understand where they are coming from, probably from under the window….
I decide to get up and of course I get two dinghies under my eyes, get dressed and head off to the nearest mall. The malls here open at 10, calmly…. I don’t recognize the streets from the night before, with the daylight everything looks different, the palm trees, the vehicles, the buildings, everything is new and exotic.
The walk to the mall is along a street that leads to the center of the city, one of the main arteries. I feel overexposed to colors, sounds, scents, most of all sounds, horns, horns and more horns ;D
Stores open but with the windows at the entrance locked, abandoned and semi-destroyed businesses, mechanics taking apart motorcycles and cars by the side of the road, “valet parking” people yelling left and right. And everyone looking at you like you’re an alien, I guess it’s not a very touristy area 😀
Thanks to my “perfect” Spanish I managed to buy a Peruvian sim card and talking to the salesman I found out that in the evening there was a very important soccer match to qualify for the World Cup.
It’s time to finally see the sea, I walk to the belvedere through another residential district very little touristy, I help push a cab of a poor guy whose car broke down right at the top of a hill and finally I reach one of the many parks of the city. The view is incredible, I decide to spend the day exploring the city by the sea. I forgot my sunscreen, it’s not hot, but the sun is hot… Tonight I want to watch the game, if I’m not like a lobster….
