Departing Montañita at 5.30 p.m., the bus takes us to a small village on the coast called Puerto López.
As always, the weather is cloudy and not very hot. It is drizzling but luckily this time my rucksack is not on the roof 😆.
The road runs along the coast and we arrive at the bus station, where the bus that will take us to the capital is waiting for us. The bus is definitely more luxurious, more comfortable.
A little curiosity, the toilets on the buses in Ecuador are for women only… if a man runs away, he makes do!!! 😑
During the journey the bus climbs the Andes, Quito is in fact almost 3000 metres above sea level. And as the altitude increases, the temperature drops. The bus fills up with condensation, water droplets form everywhere and all of a sudden it starts to rain inside!
We arrive at our destination at 5 a.m., wet, tired and cold. 😵‍💫
It’s too early to go to the hostel, so we decide to wait in the morning at the bus station. The temperature however is glacial Fortunately we resist those 3 hours that are enough to rush to the hostel. This time the hostel is wonderful, with spacious rooms, comfortable beds and a terrace with an incredible view. It’s cold, though! 😵
