After a week in Cusco, I am now bored and need to move. Despite having made numerous friends, boredom advances. But also the desire for warmth… And so here I am back in Lima…
The taxi races through the streets of Cusco, at my side a Sicilian guy who happens to be taking the same flight. We arrive at the airport early and to our surprise in Cusco the plane is waiting outside…. On the platform 😆. Luckily it is not cold this morning.
After almost an hour of waiting, they let us in to check in our hold luggage, but not before the necessary controls… which in Cusco are very thorough… so much so that they are done by hand! Yes, they opened my luggage, checking every handbag, container, clean clothes, dirty clothes… everything! Hoping I had waited long enough and after redoing the luggage again, here it was time for the actual check in… or rather not… a gentleman decided he felt like fighting over a few extra kilos of his luggage… so it’s another endless wait… 😑
When he finally decides to get out of the way with his rich man’s act, coarse clothing and belly poking out of his designer shirt, things go surprisingly fast. The metal detector is a pure formality, they don’t let me take anything out of my backpack and the wait at the gate is now reduced to a minimum. The flight is quiet and quite short and after sharing a taxi with the Italian guy and saying goodbye to each other, I head to my hostel. This time I decide to have a minimum of privacy, a room on my own. The hostel is nice, in a very convenient location, there is however a small detail which will make it very creepy………
